Music
Greetings from Anomaly Radio founder SMiles Lewis.
As the proprietor of this webradio establishment, it goes without saying that the Talk and Music content of the station reflect the interest areas and musical tastes of it’s founder and owner.
I began webcasting as a hobby via Live365 back in November of 2000 as Radio-Free-Elfis. Some friends and I began a semi-weekly broadcast in two hour increments wherein we’d do in-house interviews, phone interviews and interviews with the occasional musicians we had on as musical guests. That was the Radio-Free-Elfis show. In between these talk shows (and rebroadcasts of my other talk show appearances and those of a select few of my fellow Kook friends) I played an ever expanding musical collection I was amassing from my rich and varied aural tastes.
I grew up listening to all sorts of music. I was influenced by pop music of the late Seventies but really started paying attention to music during the 1980s. While I was raised around Hippie 60s music I was also awash in 70s classic rock. Rock bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush and Cream have always been my bread and butter. However, I’ve also always been drawn towards synthy electronic tones and so have quite a penchant for various Electronica genres. Some of my favorites include good ole Techno, with preference for Drum and Bass / Jungle beats and an ear toward the likes of greats such as Future Sound of London, Amon Tobin and Shpongel.
If you then take all that and twist it a little to make Shoegazer - THAT’S what I’m all about! And if you can mix all that together with aetherial Cocteau Twins-esque vocals even better!!
Anyway … I started amassing a huge assortment of music. This mass of music became the backbone of the Radio-Free-Elfis webradio station which, eventually, would become … The Anomaly Radio Network!
Some of the genres we’ve already mentioned like, Classic Rock, Electronics, Shoegazer, but we also feature Punk, “Alternative”, “Indy”, Ambient, Metal, Psychedelic Rock, Downtempo, Global Groove, plus music of Austin and Central Texas musicians and much Much MUCH more!
So right here at AnomalyRadio.com/music/ you will find on-going updates on what’s happening to that evolving mass of music we’ve collected. We hope you get as much of a kick out of all this music as we do.
